Lion and Lamb
Lion of Judah and The Lamb
Maundy Thursday
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body."
Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins."
Matthew26.26-27

Good Friday
And they crucified him... with a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last. The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, heard his cry and saw how he died, he said, "Surely this man was the son of God."
Mark 15. 21-39

Easter Sunday
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they enetered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but one of the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he is risen!"
Luke 24.1-6
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" After he said this , he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
John 20.19-20
Understanding
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.
John 11.26

Easter has many dimensions to it, not least the institution of the Holy Communion at the Last Supper which we recall on Maundy Thursday; the events of Good Friday with the Crucifixion; and then the glories of the unstoppable Resurrection of Jesus showing, proving, that death cannot overcome the life that is in Jesus.

The painting below, by Albrecht Altdorpher (1537) captures the two amazing events of the Resurrection, the top half showing the explosion of light and life of the rising of Jesus, and the lower half showing the reality of the Empty Tomb - the incontrovertible proof that Jesus rose from the dead!

Judah Trust News

The regular Monday/ Tuesday morning prayer meetings continue and are proving to be a valuable time of intercession. A small group of us pray through all the emails received in the last week. The details then go out by email to the rest of the Judah board and by mail to several other intercessors for follow up intercession. We are delighted with and stand in awe at God’s response to these meetings.

If you have a prayer need relating to HIV/AIDS and don't mind sharing enough information for us to pray sensibly, send us an email at admin@judahtrust.org and we will pray for that need at our Monday / Tuesday prayer meeting.

End Note
Easter is the time when we remember just how much God loves each one of us. His love being so great that he was prepared to die for us. Each one of us has unimaginable value because of this love of God for us.

Be blessed over this time of Eastertide.

with love from
